Somerset Charter Standard Clubs & Somerset Special Schools
Somerset FA are delighted to publicise the School Club Links with Somerset Charter Standard Clubs and Somerset Special Schools. These are:
Bishops Lydeard & The Priory School
The Priory Special School is a school for boys aged 12 - 16 with Emotional Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and based in Taunton. The school was recently successful with a Football Foundation grant to create new activities to generate new teams to enter into football competitions. As part of this grant, the school is able to bring in an external coach to deliver curriculum time coaching. Bishops Lydeard is the local Community Charter Standard Club and they have developed a link with Priory by deploying a coach into the school to deliver the coaching.
Wellington FC & Selworthy Special School
Selworthy Special School is based in Taunton and supports students with learning disabilities, physical and sensory disabilities. Selworthy School (together with a few local mainstream schools) have started accessing the Taunton Vale Sports Centre for their curriculum time activities. Selworthy has requested this to be football, and a Wellington FC Coach is supporting the school with this delivery.
Larkhall Athletic FC & Threeways Special School
Threeways Special School is based in Bath and supports students with learning disabilities, EBD, Physical and sensory disabilities. Threeways are very proactive with their football and always participate in the Somerset Special Schools Sports Association events. The School has been looking to work with a club in the area to support opportunities for their students to play football outside of school. Larkhall Athletic is the local Community Charter Standard Club and are very proactive in supporting schools in Bath. This is their first club link with a special school and the School and Club are working together to develop curriculum time coaching and out of school opportunities.
