Somerset FA Disability Centre of Excellence

Somerset FA has an exciting opportunity for coaches with a passion to work with elite football players with a disability. Somerset FA has been granted an FA Licence to host a Disability Centre of Excellence which will provide training and match opportunities for Somerset’s most talented football players with a classified disability.

We require:

1 x Centre Director to over see the programme

2 x Head Coaches for the U14 and U18 age groups and

2 x Assistant coaches to support the squads at training and accompany the head coach to match days.

The commitment will run from October to May (term time only) and will involve a weekly training session at Strode College on a Friday evening from 7.pm – 8.30pm. The squads will also have 6-8 fixtures during the course of the season which will be hosted on Sundays, within the South West Region. For all positions available an applicant must be able to attend all training and fixtures during the season, therefore you will need to be available on Friday evenings and 6 – 8 Sundays during the season.

To this end, Centres of Excellence have a focus on recruiting players that can progress to National Development and Elite Squads as highlighted within The FA’s Disability Player Pathway and as shown below:

Amputee
Cerebral Palsy
Deaf
Partially sighted
Learning Disability.
