Somerset FA is delighted to announce that we have been re-awarded the Foundation Level of the Equality Standard for sport.

Somerset FA is delighted to announce that we have been re-awarded the Foundation Level of the Equality Standard for sport.

The National Standard for Equality is a nationally recognised framework that assists CFAs with embedding equality at the highest level of their organisation, and communicating and sharing that commitment with its staff and partners.

It also provides a framework to review how a CFA is organised around equality in relation to its service delivery, workforce, policies, procedures and legal compliance against the backdrop of The FA's National Game Strategy.

Kevin Coleman, The FA's Diversity and Inclusion Manager commented: "We would like to thank you and all the staff and volunteers at Somerset FA for their time, effort and dedication put into regaining this accreditation.

"The independent assessment report noted that there is a clear commitment across Somerset FA to ensure diversity and equality are embedded across it’s activities on and off the pitch. Much of the CFAs activity has been informed by its equality monitoring, and staff and Board have been well briefed on the county’s commitment and everyone’s responsibility within this."

Rachael Lawler-Edwards who leads on inclusion at Somerset FA further commented: "I'm delighted for our whole team to have regained this standard. It allows us to demonstrate our commitment to providing football for anyone who wishes to participate, working toward our vision of 'Football for Everyone, Everyone for Football' "

Somerset FAs achievement will be recognised at The FAs National Inclusion Conference at Aston Villa FC on April 22nd 2020.
