The Somerset FA Girls Centre of Excellence competes in the South West Regional fixture programme against Bristol Academy, Oxford United, Devon FA and Hampshire FA. Somerset FA also play fixtures against other Licenced Centres such as Arsenal, Brighton, Stoke City and Chelsea to name a few. This ensures high quality competitive opportunities on a regular basis to challenge each player. England Scouts regularly visit games to ensure Somerset’s talented girls are given every opportunity to move up the Female Football pyramid. There are also opportunities to attend Regional England Talent camps.
The Girls Centre of Excellence provides high quality coaching from FA Qualified Level 2/3 & UEFA A-Licence Coaches. The programme is the only pathway for talented young female players to progress to the England Youth and Senior Squads. Somerset FA also has a Goal Keeper Coach to offer 1-2-1 support for all keepers on a weekly basis, in addition to a Chartered Physiotherepist who can provide weekly treatment and rehabilitation support to all players. An FA Centre of Excellence is the pinnacle playing opportunity for talented players in the area and offers a direct opportunity to progress into international football.
