CPD - Coaches Corner

Learning and development is an active, continuous process. It's a journey that never ends. And one that is shaped by experiences and learning opportunities gathered anywhere, anytime.

To support your journey, The FA provides a range of learning opportunities for you to engage with. From events in your region to online resources to in-situ mentoring, you can access the development support that will make the biggest impact to you and your role.

The Coaches Corner - Club Offer

During the 2021/22 season the Somerset FA will launching the Coaches Corner, a series of 7 CPD events for coaches to attend. The attendance fee will be £10 per course per coach but we are offering clubs the opportunity to pay a one off fee of £50 that will enable them to send as many coaches as they wish to as many of the 7 CPD sessions as they wish. All coaches that attend a session will gain the accredited CPD hours.

first aid refresh workshop 

Venue:Strode College Sports Centre, Church Road, Street, BA16 0AB

Date and time: Thursday 20th January 2022, 7-9pm

 

This face-to-face workshop will provide coaches, volunteers or anyone working within football a hands on refresher following attendance of the FA's online Introduction to First Aid in Football course. Please note this is not a first aid qualification, it is just a face to face refresh workshop. The course will focus on basic life support and the use of an AED (defibrillator). This will include CPR technique and how to use a defibrillator.

Working with Para Footballers 

Venue: Strode College Sports Centre and 3G Pitch, Church Road, Street, BA16 0AB

Date and time: Monday 24th January 2022 6-9pm

All attending coaches will be accredited with 3-hours CPD

This workshop is aimed at coaches who wish to understand or start working with Para-footballers, it will be delivered as a mix of theory and practical (with more time spent on the pitch) to help coaches gain ideas and understand how to work or integrate Para-Footballers within their sessions. The workshop will cover the following:

•    Why Para-Football and not disability?
•    Managing difference and adapting your sessions.
•    Dealing with Autism and behavioural issues.
•    CFA Para-Football provision.
•    Understanding the STEP principle and Inclusion Spectrum and using this within your coaching sessions.
•    Session ideas and practical delivery.

This interactive session will be delivered by Jeff Davis who has over 35 years’ experience in this area of the game, coaches who attend should be prepared for a thought-provoking session as the first of a series of workshops being held throughout the season.

Yes you can. The FA have a number of online CPD opportunities here.

If you're an FA Level 1 or 2 learner, continuous professional development hours are optional and so there is no longer a requirement for licensing .

If you're a UEFA qualified coach, however, you are required to complete 15 hours of CPD every three years to maintain your licence, which The FA recommends is best achieved by completing 5 hours per season
