Have Fun, Make Friends, Play Football
We are delighted to announce the window is now open to receive NEW applications to become a Wildcats Provider in your club or community!
Wildcats Girl's Football provides girls with regular opportunities to play football and take part in organised sessions in a fun and engaging environment created exclusively for girls. The programme is focused on supporting girls aged between 5-11 to have access to playing football.
The sessions take place on a weekly basis, either after school or at weekends, subject to the local organiser. They will provide a safe environment where girls with no football experience can; have fun engaging with sport, develop fundamental skills, try a variety of sessions, learn new things and create foundations for a lifelong love of sport.
Wildcats has been developed and designed through research, as we know girls have many motivations to play football; for fun, friendship, fitness and family. We need to ensure this programme embraces difference, through its delivery and that Wildcats welcomes girls of all abilities, backgrounds and experiences. Football has the power to change lives for the better. It can contribute to physical and mental wellbeing; it can provide opportunities to compete and collaborate with others and it can help to shape the place of girls in wider society.
In Somerset we currently have 29 active Wildcat programmes across the County and we are looking for more to join us. Through club’s hosting the Wildcats programme, we have seen an increase of U10s, U11s and U12s teams being formed which has really supported clubs to bring in more girls to play our beautiful game!
Every single Wildcats provider is so important, in not only transforming the women and girls’ game in England, but also changing these young girls’ lives. With England being the sole host of UEFA Women’s EURO 2022, we hope the journey of our national team in this tournament will inspire more young girls to try and play football. We will be signposting all young girls to find their nearest Wildcats session, so what better time to be a part of this exciting programme! We wish you the best of luck with your application and look forward to working with you.
The Application window is open from now until the end of January 2021; please ensure you read through the attached guidance ahead of applying, as this gives you all the information you will need to consider and have in place to become a Wildcats Provider.
