Advanced Coaching Centre Open Trials

Information on the 2020-21 open trials for the Advanced Coaching Centre at U12 and U14.

The Advanced Coaching Centre is licenced and supported by the FA. It provides talented young female players throughout Somerset and its surrounding areas with weekly additional training and fixtures, whist still playing for their club.

The Advanced Coaching Centre offers talented female players in Somerset an opportunity to progress in Football and access appropriate levels of coaching and support throughout the talent pathway, enabling the programme to reach its ultimate goal in producing elite female players to compete at international level.

An FA Advanced Coaching Centre is the pinnacle of playing opportunity for talented players in the area and offers a direct opportunity to progress into international football.

The Girls Advanced Coaching Centre provides girls at U12, U14 & U16s age groups with season long coaching (once a week) and fixture programme (minimum of 6 fixtures a season) to support the development of the talented female footballers in Somerset and the surrounding areas. It provides high quality coaching from FA Qualified Level 2 & UEFA B Licence Coaches.

The Somerset FA Girls Advanced Coaching Centre challenges the skills and development of players against other Centre's within the South West Region (Devon, Cornwall, Dorset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire). This ensures high quality competitive opportunities on a regular basis to challenge each player.

Training and games are regularly observed by The FA's Regional and England scout with elite players progressing through to The FA Regional and National Performance Camps and England Training Camps. This is to ensure Somerset's talented girls are given every opportunity to move up the Female Football pathway.

This is the only FA Advanced Coaching Centre in Somerset and the only pathway within the county for talented young female players to progress to the England Youth and Senior squads.

How do the Trials work?

The trials for this season will run in a different way to previous seasons.  Due to the Covid pandemic, with support from The FA, we have agreed to operate the centre with our existing players from September, and host trials thereafter for new players to engage with the programme.

The ACC Trials will take place at: Strode Sports Centre, Old Church Road, Street, Somerset, BA16 0AB on the 3G pitch.

Age Group for Trials:

  • U12 - the player must be at least 10 years old but under the age of 12 as at midnight on 31st August in the playing season. School years 6 & 7
  • U14 - the player must be at least 12 years old but under the age of 14 as at midnight on 31st August in the playing season. School years 8 & 9

We will be trialling players for these 2 age groups only at this stage and please read the information below before completing the registration.

Trial Dates:

The trials take place over two weeks, we encourage players to attend both weeks. The trials are booked for October 14th and 21st 2020.

Nominations for trials:

Players can be nominated by their schools and / or clubs to attend the 2 weeks trials process.  These trials will involve players coming into the ACC environment and training alongside our existing ACC players.  This will enable potential players to experience the environment, work with our excellent team of coaches and play alongside ACC level players.

We encourage players to attend both weeks of trials if possible, as this will enable us to see more of the player.  If a player can only attend 1 session, we will make our decision on that 1 week of trial.  Following the trials process, players will be notified if they have been successful or unsuccessful.

Please note all players selected or not will be informed via email, therefore please ensure an up to date email address is included on this form.
