Somerset FA’s Girls Advanced Coaching Centre is a bespoke programme designed to support the development of Elite Female Players across the South West of England from U12’s to U16’s for season 2017/18.
As a County our goal is to provide a professional environment to allow Elite Female Players reach their full potential within the game. The Somerset FA ACC is hosted at Strode Sports Centre, Old Church Road, Street, BA16 0AB, on Wednesday evening between 6pm and 9pm on their newly refurbished 3G pitch.
Players attending the ACC programme attend weekly sessions and participate in a games programme with other ACC’s in the South West region with FA qualified coaches with a minimum of the FA Level 2 and FA Youth Award Module 2. Goalkeepers can expect to receive weekly coaching sessions with our FA qualified GK Coaches. Players in the programme also receive support around the ACL warm-up, follow a robustness programme to develop strength for football and have access to workshops supporting injury prevention, diet and nutrition and hydration.
Players are closely monitored through individual challenges aligned to the FA 4 Corner Model and players receive feedback 3 times per season on their progress. As part of the FA Elite Female Player Pathway players attending the ACC have the opportunity to feed into the South West Regional Excellence Camp which is held in Somerset. South West Regional Excellence Camps run across five weekends per season, whilst players remain playing in the grassroots clubs and training at the ACC once a week. This is the step between to National and International camps for players aged 13, 15 and 17. The ACC will accept recommendations for trials from club coaches and league officials during the season for players displaying talent.
