Coaches Committed to Developing the Future England Lionesses

The club coaches of our Girls’ Advanced Coaching Centre (ACC) players were invited to attend the Somerset FA ACC ‘Coaches Evening’ on Wednesday...

As part of The FA Girls’ England Talent Pathway in the South West, the most talented female players in the region attend weekly ACC sessions whilst also playing for their grassroots club. Somerset FA host one of the six County FA ACC programmes in the region and aim to support in the identification, development and progression of players with the potential and aspiration to play for England.

The evening looked to give coaches who are working with ACC players within a grassroots club the opportunity to see their player(s) training within the ACC environment, and review the key objectives they have been working on throughout the season.  The coaches in attendance had the opportunity to observe the ACC U12 squad play in a training fixture against Isle of Wedmore U12 (mixed/boys team); the group looked at the challenges and benefits of this exercise. This was followed by the ACC coaches working with the U14 and U16 age groups to demonstrate some of the physical performance work that the players regularly complete at and away from the centre, emphasising the importance of this to support injury prevention and robustness. The FA Elite Women’s Coach Developer (South West), Sarah Lawler, delivered a coaching session that demonstrated some of the key ACC objectives for the season and was on hand to offer advice and answer any questions.

We would like to thank the coaches for attending and for their commitment to further enhance the work they are doing to develop the next generation of elite female football players. Thank you to the below clubs for their continued support with recommending and supporting players.
